Egloshayle
Egloshayle Village lies on the banks of the River Camel.  The name Egloshayle is Cornish for 'Church on an estuary' eglos (church) plus hayle (estuary).  Egloshayle was a Bronze Age settlement and a river port; it was also a trading port rivalling Padstow a little over five miles down river. The trade consisted of tin, clay, wool, corn and vegetable crops. It is now a quiet village with a traditional inn.

Wadebridge

The bustling market town of Wadebridge famous for its 17-arch stone bridge built in 1468, which provided the main crossing point of the River Camel.

The town today offers a wide variety of attractions suitable for visitors of all ages. Individual shops, riverside walks, bicycle hire, and a large selection of places to eat and drink catering for all tastes. Wadebridge has a leisure centre with an indoor swimming pool, a children's play park, bowling green, tennis courts, as well as a cinema showing all the latest film releases.

The Camel Trail is a real highlight of the town, which is a 17-mile long traffic-free route for both walkers and cyclists.  The 5.5 mile route to Padstow follows the shoreline of the estuary, and is incredibly scenic.  Along the way you will find several places to stop to enjoy either a bit of birdwatching, or just to take in the spectacular view.

Padstow

With buildings dating from the Middle Ages, Padstow is a picture-postcard fishing village.  Affectionately called "Padstein" by locals, Padstow is home to Rick Stein's Seafood Restaurant and offers numerous eating places, estuary walks as well as boat and fishing trips from its picturesque harbour.

Rock

Across the estuary from Padstow (served by a passenger ferry), Rock has wide and beautiful sands and is the nearest beach to our cottages.  Popular with the sailing fraternity, waterskiing, windsurfing, canoeing and fishing trips are also available here.  For golfers there are two courses available at St Enodoc Golf Club, home to one of the finest links courses in the UK, and Trevose Head Golf Club is just a short drive away.

Daymer Bay and Polzeath

Just a short drive from the cottages the beaches of Daymer Bay and Polzeath have a huge appeal to all.  Both are magnificent wide open spaces.  Daymer is particularly popular with windsurfers and set back from the sandy beach is St Enodoc church, the final resting place of Sir John Betjeman.  Polzeath is one of the best surfing beaches on in Cornwall, lessons are available here all year round.  Here you will find breathtaking scenery of the cliffs and wonderful walking along the coastal path.

Port Isaac

This pretty fishing village was a busy coastal port from the Middle Ages to the mid 19th century.  Fishing is still important in the village today, however visitors are drawn here to wander amongst the narrow twisting streets that wind their way down to the pretty harbour.  Home of the popular TV series Doc Martin, the comedy Saving Grace was also filmed here.
